Programs

Where our mission meets the ground.

Our flagship focus is youth cultural exchange and social cohesion — alongside nine connected programme areas that carry ASCO's mission into communities.

Flagship Programme

Youth Cultural Exchange & Social Cohesion

ASCO is committed to advancing peace, mutual understanding, and social cohesion through cultural exchange programmes for young people across Africa and beyond. We facilitate at least one annual international exchange, connecting participants directly with diverse communities, traditions, languages, educational institutions, and cultural heritage — with reciprocal engagement between partner countries wherever possible.

New Insights Per Participant

Learning Outcomes

  • Improved knowledge of other cultures and stronger intercultural communication skills

  • Greater appreciation of diversity and a deeper commitment to peaceful coexistence

  • Ability to identify at least three new insights about the host country's history, values, and social practices — tracked through pre- and post-exchange reflections

Indicators of Success

  • Positive participant feedback and sustained contact between exchange partners

  • Collaborative follow-up activities between participating communities

  • Evidence of greater openness, respect, and empathy in participant attitudes and behaviour

By strengthening unity, encouraging cross-cultural dialogue, and fostering enduring friendships across national, ethnic, and cultural boundaries, ASCO aims to reduce prejudice and discrimination — contributing to a more inclusive, tolerant, and united society where cultural diversity is recognised as a strength for sustainable development, regional integration, and global citizenship.

A public awareness campaign calling for the rejection of xenophobic violence and vigilantism, and for immigration matters to be handled by state institutions under the rule of law — not by mobs.

How We Work

Community-led. Evidence-based. Built to last.

Listen First

Every initiative starts with the community that will live with the outcome — their priorities set the agenda.

Ground It in Evidence

We favour solutions that can be tested, measured, and adapted, rather than one-size-fits-all interventions.

Build for Sustainability

We design programs that can be carried forward by communities themselves, not initiatives that end when we leave.
