1. What Information We Collect

We collect the following, and no more than this, through africansolidaritycivic.org:

  • Newsletter subscriptions — your email address, and the page you subscribed from.
  • Contact form submissions — your name, email address, and message.
  • Basic visit analytics — page views, approximate country (from a best-effort IP lookup, not a precise database), device/browser type, and referring site. No raw IP address is ever stored — only a one-way hash that changes daily and cannot be traced back to a person.
  • Donations — donations made via PayPal are processed entirely by PayPal; ASCO does not receive or store your card details. Donations made by bank transfer are visible to ASCO only through normal banking records.

2. How We Use It

We use this information only to: respond to your enquiry, send newsletter updates if you've subscribed, understand how the Website is used so we can improve it, and process donations. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to any third party.

3. Data Retention

Contact messages and subscriber emails are kept for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you or maintain the newsletter list, or until you ask us to delete them. Visit analytics are automatically deleted after 180 days.

4. Third Parties

We use PayPal to process donations, and a website hosting provider to run this site — both process limited data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We do not otherwise share your information with third parties.

5. Your Rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or request that it be deleted — for example, to unsubscribe from the newsletter or have a contact message removed. Contact us using the details below to exercise any of these rights.

6. Organizational Transparency

In the interest of donor and public trust, ASCO publishes its CIPC registration number, tax reference number, registered address, and Executive Structure on this Website. Financial statements and annual returns are maintained internally in accordance with the Companies Act, 2008, and are available to members and relevant authorities on request.
